Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good backcountry icefishing machine Hi, I bought this sled in December and have put it through it's paces, so far it has been able to break any situation I throw at it. I use the machine primarily around my property as a work/family sled and for ice fishing in remote areas. The low gearing also for seamless trail riding around my property and doesn't cause jerky stop/starts like previous sleds. For ice fishing, I used the machine to break trail into a backcountry lake. There is no trail to this lake, and I simply followed my GPS and allowed the voyageur's narrow ski stance, to weave me between trees, and around blow down. This is usually no easy task in 2-3' of snow but the voyageur's wide ski's and long 155" track made it for a reasonable adventure. In order to get where get to where I go ice-fishing, we have to take 20km's of groomed trail before we go off trail for another 80kms. The groomed trail performance has been excellent and I was more than pleased with the 60-70mph top end. The sled does push in the corners, but I expected that due to the narrow ski stance I have it set at, combined with the long track. I am interested to see if there is a larger windshield for this machine. On cold mornings -30, it would be nice to have a little larger windshield to hide behind. Another thing I think Polaris nailed was the articulating track. This has shown much promise when breaking the trail where no trail exists. Often times you have to back up to get around trees etc and the voyageur definitely can backup further than other sleds without the articulating feature. It still does tunnel down into the snow, but not nearly as quick as other models. I am happy with the features of the sled. I really like the wide skis and handle bars with mountain strap for leaning etc. I upgraded to the larger rack and storage bin and would highly recommend this to anyone. I also added saddle bags because there was no storage for extra gloves, oil, tools, fishing gear, etc. For areas of improvement, I am not happy with the running boards. This machine is built to break trails, fish, etc, yet the solid running board consistently build up with snow and ice. They also do not provide good traction when leaning or standing while breaking trails. For the added cost of updating the running boards, it would be well worth it. I also wish Polaris built a gas can to fit under the seat of this machine. By the time I get home, I am almost on empty and feel that the space under the seat could be well suitable for a spare 2 gallon custom gas tank. This way I would have the rest of my rack space for gear etc. Also, because the gas can would be under the seat, I would leave it there at all times and always have spare gas with me. I also think there should be a better system for opening the hood. The small silver clips are tough to operate when it's -30 out, with bare finger tips. I think either more straps that are down near the shock or like a vacuum style hinge that you could operate with gloves on. I have already lost 2 of the backers off these silver clips and now have to watch when I remove them to add oil that I don't lose them. If I lose one 80 miles from the truck it will be not make for an enjoyable ride home. If you can't change the clips, at least put a lock nut on the back side so they cannot pop off. That little barbed washer that they come with is not made for the user that is cold, tired and in a hurry. The last point that I am extremely frustrated about, which has nothing to do with the function of the machine, rather than the dealer, is the rebate that was on for the purchase of accessories. I was told prior to purchase, for every $400 in accessories I would receive $100 rebate. I purchased over $800 in accessories, I was told I was going to get $200 in rebates, but once the deal closed, I heard nothing but excuses from the dealer. I had to call and chase him down, and it wasn't until I provided email backup did he say he would look into it. I still have not seen any of my $200 rebates, which I had hoped to put towards a 2up seat.
